"Mostly Gravel"
Today was either going to be about 21 miles, or 34, we got to choose. We started with a plan for second breakfast at exactly 11 miles into our ride, which we succeeded at. Most of our day was supposed to be dirt or unpaved paths. But, as we stared biking about 5-6 miles in we should have been on gravel paths, or dirt. But luckily we weren't and it continued like that for most of our ride. After second breakfast (in which we got very good bread and caught up to the cool old cars), we saw a really nice looking sunflower field.
I really don't remember much of the plain biking bits, which we did a lot of today. I do, though, remember that there was a chunk of unpaved road (that really wasn't that bad) where we went really fast and took a cool picture of ourselves.
After that, we made the decision to go the full 34 miles. We were in La Fleche, where apparently there's a big zoo? I saw a poster with a guy booping a lion which I thought was cool. Then, in a very quick downhill corner with gravel, my mom fell over and bruised her leg and hit her head. We decided that the least we could do for her was to find a place where we could stay out of the supposed rain. So, we came across this really cool mill hotel place that we decided to call. The owner had space for our bikes, and our room is way bigger than any other hotel I've been to. And, she left so it's just us and the very friendly old black cat sitting around. We walked over to a pizza place for supper which had more than pizza. We had two pizzas, a burger, and a salad for supper. Then we went looking for dessert, but the place was apparently full and therefore I wasn't allowed to have my dark chocolate mousse. So, we went home and here we are. Tomorrow, we're biking the last stretch of mileage before Saumur.

Here’s the incredible mill where we’re staying the night: https://lesgrandsmoulinsdebauge.fr/site/
ReplyDeleteAlso, after a hot, deep bath and a restful evening, I think I’m pretty much unscathed after the gravel crash. I may be a bit stiff tomorrow but I can work with that! — Liv
ReplyDeleteKnowing that no real harm came from the crash (right?), I think some might say it was worth it in exchange for that Mill stay and food!!!! Wow! -- toby
ReplyDeleteTotally!! Haha
